Montreal, Canada ( February 1, 2002) - Gage Applied Technologies, a leading manufacturer of Instrument Building Blocks based on the personal computer platform, today announced the launch of a family of waveform digitizer cards for the CompactPCI bus that provides the fastest available sample rates for 8 bit, 14 bit and 16 bit sampling resolution.

After conducting numerous lighthouse customer interviews and a 4 month long market survey, the 6U form factor for CompactPCI was chosen. It is expected that all manufacturers of high speed instruments for CompactPCI bus will be forced to adopt the 6U form factor within the next 24 months in order to house high powered electronics needed for high speed operation.

"CompactPCI has emerged as a natural successor to VXI and is becoming a popular bus for building medium cost manufacturing test equipment and large data acquisition systems. Electrical compatibility with PCI bus enables CompactPCI to provide a low cost platform" stated Karen McCurry, Marketing Manager of Gage Applied. "This product release is aligned with our overall corporate strategy of providing our target customers with hardware and software Instrument Building Blocks that offer differential advantage."

  • The fastest digitizer in the family, the CompuScope 85GC , features 5 GS/s sampling and 500 MHz bandwidth on two simultaneous channels and betters the closest rival on the market by 100%.

  • The highest resolution digitizer in the family, the CompuScope 1610C , features 16 bit vertical resolution at the blistering 10 MS/s sampling rate for two simultaneous channels making it the fastest 16 bit digitizer in the world.

  • Gage will continue to bring leading edge performance products to its CompactPCI digitizer family with the introduction of a third member of the family - the world's fastest 14 bit digitizer with sampling rates of 100 MS/s scheduled to be launched this spring.

Compatible With GageScope Oscilloscope Software

All members of this family are fully compatible with GageScope ® Oscilloscope software that allows users to acquire and analyze signals using CompuScope cards without having to write a single line of programming code.

Software Support

Gage also offers Software Development Kits (SDKs) for C/C++, MATLAB ® and LabVIEW ® , with support for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP.

Typical Applications

Typical applications of the CompactPCI bus CompuScope cards include manufacturing test, IF signal recording, Shock wave testing, Optical head test and Radar for industries such as Wireless Communications, Data Storage, Military/Aerospace and High Energy Physics.
