Montreal, Canada ( February 2, 2004) - Gage Applied Technologies, Inc., has just taken a giant leap across the memory divide with the release of its Extreme Memory option for the CompactPCI/PXI platform. Strong of the experience acquired over the last 2 years with the CompactPCI/PXI platform, Gage has now adapted its breakthrough hardware and software technologies, previously only available for the PCI platform, to create digitizers with up to 2GB of on-board acquisition memory.

"We noticed an urgent need in the fields of scientific instrumentation and SIGINT, for much deeper memory than traditional instruments like oscilloscopes can provide. This is a case of Gage working closely with cutting-edge customers, to deliver what no one else is yet able to build," commented Ted Briggs, Technology Manager at Gage. "This option on our PXI product line is just a small piece of our capabilities in multi-gigabyte signal capture," concluded Briggs.

Designed primarily to enhance the performance and range of applications of its 14- and 16-bit digitizers, Gage equips the Extreme Memory products with up to 2GB of memory. This fits in a 2-slot, 6U, CompactPCI/PXI form factor, including the 2-channel digitizer.

As was already the case for the PCI platform, Gage brings to bear its powerful GageScope ® software to transfer and display the extremely large data sets created by such deep captures. Thanks to fast direct memory access (DMA) on the PCI bus underlying the CompactPCI/PXI platform, data transfers are fast and efficient. Data decimation and zooming features then allow users to quickly focus of the regions of interest and perform advanced analysis. The same functionalities can also be programmed by using one of Gage's friendly application development kits for LabVIEW ® , LabWindows/CVI, MATLAB ® , or C/C++.
