General Questions

Q. Why would anyone need additional on-board memory?

A. You will need additional memory if the desired record length (the duration for which you want to capture the data in the on-board memory) is too large for the memory on the standard board. Remember:

Record Length = Memory Depth * (1/Sample Rate)

The more memory you have, the longer "snapshot" you can take of the signal you are capturing. An analogy can be made with a VCR tape: if you buy a T120 tape, you can only record 2 hours of video in the normal mode, whereas if you buy a T160 tape you can record 2 hours and 40 minutes.

In other words, the T160 tape has more "memory" than T120 and thus can record a longer session.
