Q. What is the maximum number of trigger sources possible with a CompuScope 1610C Master Slave system for the CompactPCI bus?

A. CompuScope 1610C features windowed triggering, in which two independent comparators provide triggering capabilities.

Each comparator can compare a preset, software controlled trigger level against either one of the two input channels or the external trigger. Note that each comparator's trigger level can be set independently of the other.

Triggering is achieved by combining the outputs of the two comparators in a logical sum. Hence, it is obvious that CompuScope 1610C provides two (2) trigger sources per card.

In a CompuScope 1610C Master Slave system, the bridge board allows the trigger sources of each of the cards to be ORed yet again, i.e. in a four card system, there are up to eight (8) trigger sources.

As a general rule, an n-card CompuScope 1610C Master Slave system provides (2 * n) trigger sources.
