Q. I just installed GageScope software and read the manual.   I understand that you have decoupled timebase from the sample rate setting in order to give the user more control over the instrument.

However, I like the coupling of the two controls since that means I only have to change one parameter to make the measurement, instead of having to change two. What should I do?

A. We have implemented the "Scope Mode" to accomodate needs of electronic engineers who may be used to the traditional coupling of sample rate and timebase.

In fact, Scope Mode also couples Vertical Scale setting with the Full Scale Input Range. We always change the input range to be greater than, or equal to, +/- 4 times the vertical scale you select, e.g. when you select +/- 100 mV/div on a CompuScope 82G, we will select the +/- 500 mV input range.

Scope Mode control is available in the main tool bar.

When pressed, this control causes the Sample Rate and Input Range drop-down fields to be grayed out.
